Midtown Yoga hires experienced wellness leader, Christy Percival, to oversee business operations as it preps to open a new studio in Durham.
Raleigh, NC - MDO Holdings announced today that one of its portfolio companies, Midtown Yoga, will open its second Triangle-area yoga studio in early 2020. The new studio will be in Durham’s new University Hill development. The nearly 3,000 square foot space will feature two heated studios and offer a variety of yoga classes, meditation, workshops, teacher trainings, retreats, event space opportunities and more.
“We are thrilled to bring the Midtown Yoga experience to Durham. Yoga is a practice that helps refine the mind and the body while also building community. We are humbled by the community that has been built at our North Hills studio and we are eager to allow this studio to be a vessel for cultivating community in Durham” stated Michael D. Olander Jr., MDO Holdings Chairman and CEO
New to the Durham location will be the addition of the second studio inside the single location. This enables more classes at peak times and also increases the ability to host more community building events during key times. The larger studio will focus on heated and hot classes while the second studio will be able to host heated classes but will also vary to room temperature to focus on specialized classes like strength, meditation, prenatal, private instruction and even parties. The University Hill location will feature the unique studio ambient lighting made popular at the North Hills location as well as luxurious restrooms including showers, a community space and a retail shop that carries the latest in yoga apparel, books, self-care items and more.
“We aim to provide classes for all walks of life – whether you’re a 500 hour certified yogi or you’re trying your first class – we want you to feel welcome and at home at Midtown Yoga. We teach and partner with the best yoga teachers in our community to invite in a diverse community while consistently providing an experience that shapes and challenges you both physically and mentally.” said cofounder and operator, Emily Wallace.
To help with the growth, Midtown Yoga has hired Christy Percival as Director of Business Operations. Percival is a graduate of NC State who spent ten years in the North Carolina Business Court while pursuing her yoga practice and teaching on the side. She has been teaching in the Triangle market for more than a decade, but three years ago she began full-time pursuit of yoga by joining the management team for CorePower Yoga. Most recently, she served as studio manager at their Cameron Village location.
Percival said, “I love what Emily and her team have built and I am excited to play a small part in growing the MY Studio brand. I am thrilled to join a Raleigh-based yoga company focused on both the mind and body aspects of yoga. There is a strong commitment to both elements, which we believe stimulates the most personal and community growth.”
